Conor McGregor says he won’t say sorry for what he did, but he admits he “made mistakes” that got him into trouble with the law.
Conor McGregor, a former UFC champion in two divisions, has openly criticized the “kangaroo court” that held him responsible for sexual assault. The trial cost him a lot of money and hurt his public image.
On Monday, Conor McGregor, also known as “Notorious,” shared a statement on social media. He admitted to cheating on his fiancée, Dee Devlin, but claimed that what happened in the Dublin hotel was agreed upon by both people.
People want to hear from me, and I needed some time, I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have ignored her messages. I should have ended the party. I should never have hurt the woman I love the most. That’s my fault. Even though I regret it, what happened that night was agreed upon by both sides, and everyone there confirmed that in court.

Back in late 2018, McGregor was accused of sexual assault, but the police didn’t press charges because there wasn’t enough evidence. Later, the woman filed a civil lawsuit against him and won nearly $260,000 after the jury decided in her favor.
I’ve told my legal team to appeal the decision, I can’t change the past, so I’m moving forward. I’m so thankful for my family, friends, and fans around the world who have supported me. That’s all I have to say. Now, it’s time to get back to the gym — I’ve got fights to prepare for!

McGregor, now 36 years old, hasn’t fought since he broke his leg in a match against Dustin Poirier in summer 2021. It’s still unclear when or where he’ll return to the Octagon, but UFC boss Dana White thinks it probably won’t happen until late 2025.
