Reality star Chrishell Stause is opening up about the harrowing moment she faced during the Los Angeles wildfires, sharing how the traumatic experience left her paralyzed with fear.
The Selling Sunset star, 43, reflected on the ordeal during her appearance on Sherri this Wednesday, January 15, revealing how the chaos of evacuations resurfaced painful memories from her past.
When we did need to evacuate, there was a fire kind of like right in our backyard. It was just immediately like, You gotta go. I think I kind of got frozen in fear. I kind of had forgotten, when I was 12, I did watch my house burn down.
Stause said on the show
Stause described the memory as “something you don’t think about. It happened so long ago,” but admitted that the unexpected resurgence of trauma caused her to freeze during the evacuation process.
Luckily, the Netflix star wasn’t alone. She credited her wife, Australian singer G Flip (real name Georgia Claire Flipo), for taking control of the situation.
You don’t know how you’re gonna react. I think I would’ve liked to have thought I’m good in an emergency case. But this kinda showed me, I really needed a little kick in the butt, and G was there to keep me focused and so it was just nice to have them.
Stause admitted
Stause later took to Instagram Stories to reflect on the experience, calling it “a little PTSD” from her childhood.
Luckily, I had my partner who is amazing, who snapped me out of it and helped me stay focused.
She added
Although the wildfires devastated many areas in Los Angeles, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica, and the Hollywood Hills, Stause was among the fortunate ones who didn’t lose her home.
Other celebrities like Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton, and Miles Teller were not as lucky, with their homes reduced to rubble in the inferno.
Stause and G Flip, who tied the knot in May 2023, have shared many tender moments in the spotlight.
Just being around G [is] such a mood-lifting experience; if you ever had the pleasure of being in the same room with them, you would quickly see what I mean. I love feeling that endless support of just wanting the other person to be fully who they are
