Dancing With the Stars season 34 kicked off on ABC, but someone important was absent on the big night.
The new season of the popular competition show aired on September 16, 2025. One familiar face who was not there for the live premiere was longtime judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

Although everyone expected the TV star to join Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli at the judges’ table, she surprised fans with an Instagram post just hours before the DWTS season 34 debut. Carrie Ann revealed she was feeling sick, and while she can’t attend, she’s eager to see the contestants’ first dances.
I wanted to share that I will not be at the show tonight as I am feeling quite under the weather. I’m resting up and can’t wait to be back next week in good health. In the meantime, I wish all the contestants the very best of luck. I’ll be cheering you on from home. 🤍🙏. Have a great show everyone! 🪩💃🏻🕺🏻⭐️.

Even though Carrie Ann didn’t mention what illness she has, the former The Talk co-host has spoken before about her health. For those curious if Dancing With the Stars will bring in a replacement judge for the premiere, Deadline reported that only Derek and Bruno will be on the panel this week.
We’re sending our best wishes to Carrie Ann and can’t wait to see her back in the ballroom next week!
