Breaking Bad fans have been worried about the show leaving Netflix after hearing recent news. Luckily, those who don’t own the series on DVD or Blu-ray can relax—it’s staying for a while.
It was previously reported that Netflix’s license to stream Breaking Bad would end in February 2025. As that date got closer, fans started sharing their concerns online, afraid the show might disappear from its streaming home. But according to What’s On Netflix, a new deal has been made to keep Breaking Bad on Netflix until at least April 18, 2027.
A new report suggests that Breaking Bad’s deal on Netflix might have been extended when the final season of its prequel, Better Call Saul, was added to the platform. Better Call Saul joined Netflix on April 18, 2023, with a four-year deal, meaning its streaming rights will expire on April 18, 2027—the same date as Breaking Bad’s current deal. There’s still a chance that Netflix could make a new agreement to keep both shows available after that date.

Even though Breaking Bad ended in 2013, it’s still super popular on streaming. Every six months, the show racks up tens of millions of viewing hours, with all the seasons combined reaching over 127 million views during that time. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which continues the story as an epilogue, also gets a lot of love from fans. Both longtime viewers and new audiences are still enjoying Breaking Bad on Netflix.
Breaking Bad was created by Vince Gilligan. The show follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a high school chemistry teacher who starts making methamphetamine with his former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), to pay for his cancer treatments. The series also stars Anna Gunn, Jonathan Banks, RJ Mitte, Betsy Brandt, Dean Norris, Giancarlo Esposito, and Bob Odenkirk.
Even though Breaking Bad is still popular, fans shouldn’t expect another spinoff anytime soon. Vince Gilligan is now working on other projects, including a new sci-fi series at Apple TV+. He’s cast Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn in the lead role, and the show has already been given a two-season order, showing Apple’s strong confidence in it. However, Gilligan has said that if this new series doesn’t work out, he might return to the Breaking Bad universe.
You can stream Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie on Netflix.
