Amy Schumer had an unexpected and hilarious encounter with Bradley Cooper this week when the actor mistakenly assumed she was 50 years old.
During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, January 28, Schumer, 43, recalled running into Cooper and engaging in casual conversation. “So I saw him, and you know, ‘How are you?’” she shared. “And he said, ‘You know, I turned 50 this year,’ and then he goes, ‘You 50?’”
Taken aback, Schumer tried to play it cool. “I tried to recover — you know, I’m 43 — so I’m like, ‘I will be 50! But I’m not 50 yet! Yeah no, I’m not, Bradley, but thank you for thinking of me!’”

While there’s certainly nothing wrong with hitting the milestone age — after all, Cooper himself celebrated his 50th birthday just weeks ago on January 5 — being prematurely aged up by seven years was definitely an unexpected moment for Schumer.
The comedian, currently promoting her new Netflix movie Kinda Pregnant, took the awkward moment in stride, joking, “Look, we all want to be hot. People go through a lot to be hot. This is how bad people want to be hot: people literally run!”
Schumer’s History of Awkward Encounters
This isn’t Schumer’s first brush with awkward celebrity encounters. She revealed to Fallon that she is frequently mistaken for fellow comedians Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson but takes it in good humor. “And I should be so lucky,” she said. “I don’t correct them. I just go, ‘Yeah, Bridesmaids changed my life.’”

Schumer’s Longtime Crush on Cooper
Schumer and Cooper share a history of lighthearted banter. The Trainwreck star has openly admitted to having a major crush on the Oscar-winning actor. In a 2015 interview with Fallon, she joked that Cooper is “the kind of hot, trust me, when he is in front of you, you just grab your ankles.”
She even humorously claimed that after a 30-minute conversation with him, she was convinced they were dating. “I changed my Facebook status from ‘It’s complicated’ to ‘I’m engaged to Bradley Cooper!’” she quipped.
At the time, Schumer acknowledged how flustered she would get around Cooper, saying, “I always harass him. I feel very uncomfortable talking to somebody that handsome. He’s very charismatic and stares into your eyes and asks you questions, which no man does.”
Fast-forward nearly a decade, and it seems Cooper is still asking questions — just not the ones Schumer was expecting. Now, the big question remains: when Schumer actually turns 50 in 2031, will Cooper make the guest list?
