The new movie Nosferatu is set to release on Christmas Day, but critics have already shared their thoughts. The film is getting a lot of praise in early reviews, earning an impressive 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Grace Randolph from Beyond the Trailer called the movie “an absolute delight.” She said that director Robert Eggers created the ultimate Victorian gothic horror film with amazing attention to detail. While the cast isn’t the strongest part, they still did a good job. Randolph added that horror fans, goth fans, and movie lovers will absolutely love it.
Nicholas Barber from BBC.com pointed out what makes Nosferatu different from other vampire movies. He said that Robert Eggers’ version dives deep into the visuals and ideas of vampire stories. According to him, most Dracula films don’t give you this much to think about or enjoy.
Tessa Smith from Mama’s Geeky called this Robert Eggers’ best film yet. She praised its amazing story, beautiful visuals, and great acting from both the main and supporting cast. She said Nicholas Hoult and Lily-Rose Depp are creepy but also charming, and Bill Skarsgård shows once again why he’s such a talented actor.
This new Nosferatu movie is a fresh take on a story that’s been told many times before. Director Robert Eggers added his own twist by making Orlok drink blood straight from the heart instead of biting the neck like usual. The film is also special because it’s the longest in the series, lasting 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Robert Eggers Gets High Praise for Nosferatu
Robert Eggers wrote and directed the new Nosferatu. Bill Skarsgård stars as Count Orlok, with a talented cast that includes Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson. Eggers is also one of the producers, along with Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Chris Columbus, and Eleanor Columbus.
Robert Eggers shared his thoughts with Total Film about making vampires scary again. He said, “We’ve reached a point where vampires, like Edward Cullen, aren’t scary anymore. So, how do we go in the opposite direction? Vampires used to be so terrifying that people would dig up corpses, cut them into pieces, and burn them. I think it’s time we bring back a truly scary, rotting corpse.”
Nosferatu is set to release in theaters on December 25, 2024.
