The first week of Big Brother 28 is officially underway, with the season’s inaugural Head of Household (HOH) crowned and the first three nominees revealed following Sunday’s 90-minute episode.
After the premiere introduced 14 new houseguests along with three returning reality TV veterans, the competition quickly shifted into strategic mode as alliances began forming and the first power of the season was awarded.
Three Reality Stars Enter the House
This season introduced a major twist by bringing three reality television alumni into the game:
- Angela Murray (Big Brother 26 and The Amazing Race)
- Rick Devens (Survivor)
- Dee Valladares (Survivor)
The trio entered the house after the premiere’s dinosaur-themed twist eliminated Rachel Reilly from the game in a humorous opening sequence tied to the season’s Time Trip theme.
Before the alumni arrived, Jason De Puy, Chuk Anyanwu, and Rome Seymour each won competitions that secured their safety for the first week.

Dee Valladares Wins the First HOH
The returning players then competed in the season’s opening Head of Household competition.
Working alongside the teams that selected them earlier in the episode, Angela, Rick, and Dee raced to assemble a large fire-themed puzzle while the new houseguests stabilized the structure using ropes.
The competition also determined the first Have-Nots of the season. The team with the fewest completed puzzle pieces when the challenge ended was assigned Have-Not status, requiring members to:
- Eat only slop for the week
- Take cold showers
- Sleep in rotating, uncomfortable beds
When the competition concluded, Dee Valladares emerged victorious, becoming the first Head of Household of Big Brother 28 and guaranteeing herself safety for the opening week.
Big Brother 28 Week 1 Nominations
With the power in her hands, Dee explained that she wanted to nominate one contestant from each team in an effort to keep her decisions balanced.
Her nominees are:
- Yash Patel
- Mallory Aurichio
- Taylor Brown
The three houseguests now face the possibility of becoming the first player evicted from Season 28.
How the Blockbuster Twist Works?
Unlike previous seasons, Big Brother 28 introduces a new Blockbuster competition.
Because three nominees are placed on the block, the remaining nominees on eviction night will compete in the Blockbuster challenge.
The winner earns immediate safety, leaving the other two nominees to face the live eviction vote from the rest of the house.
The twist adds another opportunity for contestants to save themselves before eviction while creating additional uncertainty leading into Thursday’s episode.
Power of Veto Still to Come
The Power of Veto competition has not yet aired on television.
Viewers will learn who wins the Veto during Wednesday’s episode and whether the HOH’s nominations remain the same or if changes are made before eviction night.
First Eviction Ahead
The first houseguest eliminated from Big Brother 28 will be revealed during Thursday’s live eviction episode.
While television viewers will see the events unfold throughout the week, live feed subscribers may already know additional developments before they air on CBS.
With Dee Valladares controlling the first HOH reign, new alliances forming across the house, and the Blockbuster twist ready to shake up the nomination process, Big Brother 28 has already delivered an eventful opening week.
