Disney’s Star Wars series finally has a big success on its hands.
The new Star Wars show, Skeleton Crew, brings a fun Goonies-style adventure to the galaxy and has been a hit with critics. It’s getting amazing reviews and has the highest scores of any Disney Star Wars project, except for Andor. In fact, their scores are almost the same—even beating the Star Wars movies. Here’s the full list:
- Andor – 96% critic, 87% audience
- Skeleton Crew – 95% critic, 86% audience
- The Force Awakens – 93% critic, 84% audience
- The Last Jedi – 91% critic, 41% audience
- The Mandalorian – 90% critic, 78% audience
- Ahsoka – 86% critic, 64% audience
- Rogue One – 84% critic, 87% audience
- Obi-Wan Kenobi – 82% critic, 61% audience
- The Acolyte – 78% critic, 18% audience
- Solo – 69% critic, 63% audience
- The Book of Boba Fett – 66% critic, 49% audience
- Rise of Skywalker – 51% critic, 86% audience
Skeleton Crew has also impressed audiences, earning an 86-87% score. This puts it among the top Star Wars projects, which is a big deal since Star Wars fans are known for being tough to satisfy.

Skeleton Crew is just plain fun and full of charm. While it takes inspiration from classics like The Goonies and E.T., it stands strong on its own. The show comes from Jon Watts, the co-creator behind the hugely popular Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. So, it’s no surprise the quality is top-notch (though his recent project, Wolfs on Apple TV+, didn’t quite take off).
Designed to welcome a younger generation into the Star Wars universe, Skeleton Crew isn’t just for kids. It’s enjoyable for all ages and even has some cool mysteries for die-hard Star Wars fans. The young actors deliver great performances, backed by a strong script. Jude Law plays a mysterious and awesome Force user, and there’s even a robot pirate as a first mate. There’s talk that Disney wants to turn Skeleton Crew into a long-running series. But even with its great quality, Disney faces the usual challenge of balancing viewership numbers with the high cost of making the show. Like many of their projects, Skeleton Crew isn’t cheap to produce.

Another hurdle is that it doesn’t feature any well-known Star Wars characters or big-name actors to grab attention, which is the same issue The Acolyte faced. While Skeleton Crew already looks like a stronger show, that alone won’t guarantee success if not enough people watch it. Let’s hope it gets the audience it deserves!
