Although Season 3 hasn’t been announced yet, director and executive producer Stiller confirmed that details about future installments of the hit Apple TV+ series will be revealed “very soon.”
“Severance“ isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
During Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast (see video below), series director and executive producer Ben Stiller confirmed that Season 3 won’t take three years to make. While Apple TV+ has yet to officially announce the new season, the hit series is expected to return. Stiller also assured that the next installment won’t face the same delays—such as the SAG and WGA strikes—that affected Season 2.
No, the plan is not to [wait three years], Hopefully we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon.
Stiller said ahead of the Season 2 finale
Reflecting on the three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2, Stiller explained,
It took us a little bit to regroup, and we shot Season 2 over 186 days. Editing also takes time, but thankfully, the audience was still there when we returned. The challenge was bringing in new viewers who hadn’t seen the first season, and Apple did a great job spreading the word while we did as much press as possible. Plus, three years later, Apple TV+ is in a different place—with a larger audience than when we first started.

Stiller also shared how working on Severance has influenced his perspective on acting. Having directed 11 of the show’s 19 episodes, he is also behind the upcoming Season 2 finale, set to premiere on March 21.
It’s made me admire actors so much more as a director, When you’re really just directing, you can just focus on what you’re doing and be there for the other actors and be connected to the crew.
Stiller said
During a SXSW panel with Apple EVP of Services Eddy Cue, Stiller gave a glimpse into the Season 2 finale, saying,
Things are going to happen. I mean, what can I tell you? The season is going to end soon and hopefully people will be along for the ride.
He also revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the Severance team already knows how the series will conclude. “We know what the ending is but how we’re getting there is the creative process,” he said.
