Severance is a show that has many people thinking they’re the ones running Lumon. Fans love to come up with theories about what will happen, what everything means, and who’s actually on the severed floor.
Some of these theories come true, while others don’t. In Season 2 of the popular Apple TV+ series, fans quickly focused on Helena Eagan (Britt Lower) taking over Helly R.’s role.
So, it made sense to ask director Ben Stiller if the show would start paying more attention to fan reactions and their theories.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Stiller said he enjoys interacting with fans of the show (especially when they’re real fans of it).
I will dip into how people react, usually if they like it, it’s great. And if they don’t like it, then I stop dipping in. No, I think you have to like take all that with a grain of salt and sort of appreciate that everybody has different ideas, but we have to have our own sort of clear idea of what we’re doing that is independent of that.
first he said this, But when asked if the theories fans cook up will make their way into the series as a whole, Stiller quickly shut the idea down.
He continued by explaining that the show is usually filmed “in this bubble,” meaning they work on it without much outside input, and they don’t really see how people react to it until it actually airs.
So it’s been fun though to see how much people are engaging with the show and how many edits and remixes and posters and artwork that people are making.
Stiller told the outlet
While Stiller directed much of the series and is often mentioned when people talk about Severance, the show was actually created by Dan Erickson.

Erickson has openly discussed how fans responded to relationships like Irving and Burt from Season 1 and more, and he told PEOPLE that he really enjoys reading what fans think about the show and where it might be going.
I love reading the fan theories, but you do get in your head a little bit with it and you know at the end of the day we know we have this sort of roadmap that we’ve been following since we started and we’re basically sticking to that.
Erickson told the publication.
He still finds himself reading fan theories, though.
You can check out what they’ve created in the first two seasons of Severance on Apple TV+.
