Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal return for an exciting new adventure!
On Wednesday, Jan. 22, Amazon MGM Studios shared the first look at The Accountant 2, the sequel to their 2016 action movie The Accountant.
In the story, Christian Wolff (played by Affleck) comes out of hiding after Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) asks for his help. Someone close to them has been killed by mysterious assassins. To solve the case, Wolff turns to his long-lost but dangerous brother, Brax (played by Bernthal).
J.K. Simmons returns as Ray King, the head of the Treasury department’s financial crimes unit. The movie will premiere worldwide at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8 and will hit theaters on April 25.

Anna Kendrick, Jeffrey Tambor, Jean Smart, and John Lithgow, who were in the first movie, won’t be returning for the sequel. In the original film, the story showed Christian’s childhood and how he became distant from his brother Brax. Jon Bernthal plays a hitman throughout the film, and in the end, it’s revealed that he’s actually Christian’s brother.
Both The Accountant and its sequel were directed by Gavin O’Connor and written by Bill Dubuque. Ben Affleck produced the movie with his long-time friend Matt Damon through their company, Artists Equity. This company has also worked on movies like Air (2023), the Jennifer Lopez documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, her film Unstoppable, and the heist comedy The Instigators starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.
