The Beatles biopic is bringing back some familiar faces from Gladiator 2 as the search for an actor to play George Harrison gets closer. In February 2024, it was revealed that Sam Mendes, famous for movies like Skyfall, Spectre, and 1917, will direct four connected films about The Beatles.
Each movie will focus on one of the band members. Later, reports (though not confirmed) mentioned that Harris Dickinson might play John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Charlie Rowe as George Harrison.
The upcoming Beatles biopic might bring a mini Gladiator 2 reunion! According to Deadline, Joseph Quinn is the top pick to play George Harrison in Sam Mendes’ Beatles biopic. If this is true, it would reunite Quinn, who recently played Emperor Geta, with Paul Mescal, who might take on the role of Paul McCartney. Mescal also starred as Lucius in Gladiator 2.

Joseph Quinn might be the final pick to play George Harrison in Sam Mendes’ Beatles movies. While his role hasn’t been officially confirmed, rumors started after he was seen with a guitar while filming Fantastic Four, where he plays Johnny Storm, also known as Human Torch. Fans already know Quinn’s guitar skills from his epic performance of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4.

Since Sam Mendes announced his Beatles biopic, casting rumors have been hard to keep quiet. Recently, director Ridley Scott confirmed that Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, which was earlier just a rumor. Ringo Starr also shared that Barry Keoghan will take on the role of the band’s drummer. Meanwhile, Harris Dickinson, known for his role in Babygirl, is considered the top choice to play John Lennon. Although no official deals are in place yet, it seems these actors are likely to join the cast.

Earlier reports suggested Charlie Rowe would play George Harrison in the Beatles biopic. Rowe is known for a few roles, including the musical movie Rocketman. However, Joseph Quinn, with his appearances in Stranger Things, A Quiet Place: Day One, Gladiator 2, and Fantastic Four, has become a bigger name in Hollywood.
Many believe Quinn is a better fit for George Harrison, thanks to his musical performance in Stranger Things and his resemblance to the famous guitarist. If Quinn is chosen, the Beatles biopic could gain a lot more attention with his star power.
