Race Across the World returned to TV on Wednesday (28 May), as the final four teams continued their intense adventure. After arriving at McLeod Ganj, the fifth checkpoint, the teams set their sights on the next leg of the race — a massive 1,600-mile journey south to Sasan Gir in western Gujarat.
However, not all the teams were feeling upbeat as they began the next leg. Sioned and Fin were discouraged after arriving last at the checkpoint, several hours behind the other three pairs.
“Not nice to look at, is it?” remarked Sioned, as she opened up about her difficulties with travelling in India.
First full leg in India didn’t go well. We’ve, well, me especially, I’ve struggled. I can’t deal with crowds and noises, and all of that stuff very well,

According to Surrey Live, Sioned reflected on the pressure she puts on herself to “do more” and how she reacts when things don’t go as planned.
Then, when things go wrong, I basically just shut down. I can’t help but to be disappointed in myself, I always feel like what I do isn’t good enough. I feel like I need to do more, prove more. I don’t know, I don’t know why I’m that way. I just want everyone to be proud of me. I struggle to be proud of myself, most of the time.
she expressed as she became tearful

We don’t want to just be second in the first leg and then that’s it, that’s the highlight.
Speaking to Fin, Sioned said:
In this leg of the race, teams had to cross four western states of India to reach their sixth checkpoint, choosing between the popular eastern tourist route or heading west into the vast Great Indian Desert. Luckily, Fin and Sioned made a strong comeback, cutting down their gap and arriving just six hours behind the other teams — a big improvement from being over 24 hours behind.
Race Across The World airs Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One. All episodes are also available on BBC iPlayer.
