The movie “Babygirl,” starring Nicole Kidman, came out around the same time as big movies like “Mufasa: The Lion King” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” Even so, it has done well in theaters. So far, it has made $21 million in the U.S. and $4.9 million in other countries, adding up to $26.6 million worldwide.
This makes “Babygirl” one of the 15 best-earning movies from A24, ranking 14th, just above “The Green Knight,” which made $17 million but below “We Live in Time” at $24 million. According to Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave the movie a 76% score, but only 48% of general viewers liked it.
The movie Babygirl has done well, especially considering it’s only showing in a little over 2,000 theatres. That’s much fewer than the biggest movies in 3,500 to 4,000 theatres. The film made $4.4 million the weekend after Christmas. Amazingly, it earned nearly the same amount the following weekend, dropping only 1%, which is rare.

This past weekend, it dropped a bit more, by 31%, and made $3 million. Even so, it’s a success for A24, especially since it only cost about $20 million. There’s no streaming information yet, but once it finishes its digital run, it will probably be available on Max like other A24 movies.
The new movie Den of Thieves 2: Pantera was the top movie at the box office this weekend, earning $15 million. It just barely beat Mufasa: The Lion King, which made $14.2 million in its fourth weekend. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is still doing great, adding $11 million in its fourth weekend. Nosferatu made $6.8 million this weekend, but that’s 47% less than last weekend.

Moana 2, A Complete Unknown, and Wicked came in fifth, sixth, and seventh, earning $6.5 million, $6 million, and $5.1 million. Babygirl is still showing in most theaters.
