After nearly winning at the 95th Academy Awards, Austin Butler could now have a real chance at winning an Oscar for Dune: Part Two.
In 2023, Austin Butler came close to winning his first Oscar for his amazing performance as the King of Rock and Roll. Even though he took home a Golden Globe, he lost to Brendan Fraser in the Best Actor category at the 95th Academy Awards. Now, with Dune: Part Two being one of the year’s biggest hits, it looks like Butler might have another chance at winning the award.
With the success of Dune: Part Two, Warner Bros. is once again promoting the Hollywood star for next year’s Oscars, and it’s clear why they are doing so.
In recent years, Austin Butler has become one of Hollywood’s top stars, and it’s easy to see why. With award season coming up, he’s in the spotlight again for his role as the villainous Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two. Reports say he’ll be submitted for next year’s Oscars in the Best Supporting Actor category, which isn’t surprising at all.
Villain roles have often impressed the Academy, like RDJ in Oppenheimer and Javier Bardem from No Country for Old Men. With this in mind, Butler’s chances for an Oscar with Dune: Part Two look very promising.
Angela Bassett Understood How Austin Butler Felt After Losing the Oscar
Austin Butler earned his first Oscar nomination for Elvis, and his loss at the 95th Academy Awards struck a chord with Wakanda Forever star Angela Bassett. She, too, had lost the Best Supporting Actress award that same night. Bassett remembered holding Butler’s hand to comfort him after he wasn’t announced as the Best Actor winner.
Butler isn’t the only one from Dune: Part Two aiming for awards this season. It’s likely that Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson will also be looking to win an Oscar.
