The creators of Arcane recently shared an update about the animated spin-off shows, letting fans know where things stand in the production process.
Fans love Arcane, so many felt sad when they found out that Season 2 would wrap up the story of Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell). The good news is that this won’t be the last time we see the world of Arcane on our screens.
Alongside the announcement, Arcane co-creator Christian Linke confirmed that several spin-off shows are in the works. However, no additional details were shared at that time. In an exclusive interview with The Direct’s Russ Milheim, Arcane co-creator and producer Christian Linke shared exciting news about the progress of the spin-off projects.
Linke revealed that, although no spin-off series for Arcane has officially started production yet, several ideas are being worked on “pretty aggressively.”
We’re working on several projects inspired by Arcane. Right now, we’re focused on developing them, but none of them are fully in production yet. However, we’re putting a lot of effort into a few ideas that we’re really excited about.

The Emmy-winning showrunner explained that not all of the spin-offs in development will continue the Arcane story:
We want to explore more stories. Some of the projects we’re working on introduce brand-new characters from our world, while others continue the story from Arcane.
League of Legends has tons of exciting characters and stories that could inspire spin-off shows.
One idea could focus on Noxus, a nation connected to Arcane Season 2. In League of Legends lore, Noxus goes to war with the magical land of Ionia. Interestingly, the result of this war was decided by a real-life professional League of Legends match.
Arcane only scratched the surface of magic (or the arcane), so future shows could dive deeper into those ideas and make things even wilder. Season 2 left plenty of room for new stories with familiar characters. They could explore Mel’s journey with the arcane, Jinx’s future adventures (since we know she’s alive), or even focus more on Ekko.

If the creators wanted to try something completely different, they could create a pirate-themed series featuring well-loved characters like Sarah Fortune and Gangplank. There are endless possibilities for where these stories could go! It’s surprising that Arcane, with all its success, decided to end so quickly with Season 2 and never planned for a Season 3.
Maybe the creators feel confident about how Vi and Jinx’s story wraps up, or maybe the show has become too expensive because of its star cast. Either way, since Arcane is ending, it’s likely that neither of the sisters will return after the final season.
Arcane Season 2 is now available to stream on Netflix.
