Apple TV’s hit thriller Severance is once again high on streaming charts around the world. Its quick rise happened right after one of the cast members shared a new update about the show’s coming third season.
According to FlixPatrol, Severance is ranked 9th on Apple TV’s Global Top 10 TV Shows, and it just came back into the U.S. charts at #10 on Oct. 25, 2025. It currently has an average rank of 7.8, and is reaching #5 in countries like Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mongolia, Peru, Salvador, and Taiwan. Globally, Severance goes above the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series Silo starring Rebecca Ferguson (#10), but still sits behind another sci-fi drama, Foundation, which is at #8.

Severance stars Parks and Recreation’s Adam Scott, along with Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette and others. The story is about workers at the biotech company Lumon Industries. The company does a “severance” procedure, which splits a person’s memories between work and personal life. Because of this, they end up with two different selves, called the “innie” (who only knows office life) and the “outie”, who lives normally with no stress or knowledge of their job.
Severance’s unique sci-fi idea has earned major praise for Apple TV, with 31 Primetime Emmy nominations and several wins. The show released its second season earlier this year, and was quickly renewed for a third season, which just got an update from Arquette. As Apple TV Updates on X (formerly Twitter) said, Arquette shared that Severance Season 3 will likely begin filming in Spring 2026. This would mean Season 3 could release sometime around mid-2027 — about two and a half years after Season 2’s finale.
The long delay matches the gap between Seasons 1 and 2 (2022 to 2025). Still, Severance Season 3 has not officially said when production will start, and Apple TV has not confirmed a release date. While Arquette hinted that Season 3 of Severance would not begin filming until Spring 2026, fans got even worse news earlier this year. In August, it was revealed that Ben Stiller would be leaving his role as the show’s main director for the new season. He currently has other projects lined up, including Focker-in-Law, the latest movie in the Meet the Fockers series.
Stiller will still stay with Severance as an executive producer and will help guide the writing of new episodes. A new main director has not yet been named, and fans are waiting to see if one of the previous Severance episode directors might take the lead. Stiller directed six of Season 1’s nine episodes, with Aoife McArdle directing the other three. In Season 2, Stiller directed five of ten episodes, while Sam Donovan, Uta Briesewitz and Jessica Lee Gagne directed the rest.
Severance is now streaming on Apple TV.
