Apple TV+ made a lot of money from the popular show Severance. Research shows that the first season earned Apple more than $200 million.
A company called Parrot Analytics figured this out by using a special method. They looked at how many people watched the show and how that might have brought in new subscribers. This helped them estimate how much money the show made, not just in one country, but around the world.
Parrot Analytics says Severance is doing great compared to other Apple TV+ hits. The show Slow Horses made $184.8 million in about the same time as the first season of Severance, while The Morning Show earned $299.4 million but took much longer.

Since 2020, Ted Lasso, which might have a fourth season coming, has made an incredible $609.4 million.
Parrot Analytics said that Severance has been really popular in Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and Latin America, helping Apple TV+ get the most new subscribers from these areas.

The second season of Severance started last Friday, but new episodes are coming out weekly, so fans will have to wait for more of Mark S, Helly R, and Mr. Milchick.
The critically acclaimed first season of Severance not only aligns with Apple’s premium brand, but provided a long tail of value for the streamer.
This ties into what Parrot’s Senior Entertainment Industry Strategist Brandon Katz said
Parrot’s research showed that nearly half of the money made by Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller’s hit show Severance came in the year after the first season ended.
Underscores the show’s unique ability to elicit catch-up viewing and rewatches from hungry fans.
According to Katz, this
It’s unsurprising that Apple released Severance Season 2 episodes weekly.
All of this, plus its healthy pre-release demand trends, sets the stage for a ‘break out sequel’ type of performance for Season 2, which would help Apple fill the anchor series void without Ted Lasso.
added Katz
Parrot also said that in the 28 days before the new season started, Severance Season 2 is doing as well as other big shows like Cobra Kai, The Mandalorian, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, supporting Katz’s statement.
Severance Season 2, starring Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro, goes back to Lumon Industries after the big cliffhanger in the last season. (SPOILER ALERT) Mark found out that his wife might still be alive and is his severed Lumon coworker, Ms. Casey. Both seasons have received high ratings from critics. Apple did not comment on Parrot’s research.
