The TV show A.P. Bio may not have lasted long on NBC, but it’s now finding much love from Netflix viewers. Since the show started streaming on Netflix, it quickly became popular and climbed to the Top 10 most-watched TV shows in the U.S., currently holding the #7 spot. With Thanksgiving and more viewers discovering it, that ranking could change, but one thing is clear: People are enjoying this comedy.
The story of A.P. Bio is pretty straightforward. The main character, Jack Griffin (played by Glenn Howerton from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), is a Harvard professor who gets fired. This forces him to move back to his small hometown in Ohio, where he takes a job teaching Advanced Placement Biology at Whitlock High School.
But instead of teaching, Jack ignores the curriculum and does his own thing, leading to funny and chaotic interactions with his students, other teachers, and the school principal.
The show has a talented cast of comedians, including Lyric Lewis, Mary Sohn, Jean Villepique, Paula Pell, and Patton Oswalt. It also features guest stars like Ron Funches, Christopher Lloyd (from Back to the Future), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead), Jon Lovitz, Angela Kinsey (The Office), and many others.

One of the things that makes A.P. Bio so funny is that it gets even better the more you watch it. The writing team, led by Mike O’Brien (who worked on Saturday Night Live), added lots of running jokes that build up with every episode. Most of these jokes happen at Whitlock High School.
For example, Jack often comes up with silly ways to get rid of the kids biology textbooks or plots funny revenge schemes against his rival. These repeated jokes make the show even more enjoyable, and critics love them. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has an 88% approval rating, with Seasons 2 and 3 earning a rare 100% score.
Even though critics loved the show, it faced trouble after Season 2 when NBC decided to stop airing it on regular TV and moved it to their streaming service, Peacock. Fans worried that this might mean the show’s end, and sadly, they were right. Mike O’Brien, the creator, had hoped for 15 seasons, but the show got canceled after Season 4.
However, now that A.P. Bio is on Netflix and becoming popular again, fans hope this might bring a new season. For now, all we can do is wait and hope. You can watch all the episodes of A.P. Bio on Netflix.
