James Cameron has made many hit movies, but Avatar is his biggest franchise. The first film came out in 2009 and became the highest-grossing movie ever. Its 2022 sequel also smashed records.
The Avatar series includes five films, with the third one, Avatar: Fire and Ash, set to release later this year. With a cast of top actors and stunning visual effects, the franchise continues to be a huge success. Surprisingly, actress Anya Taylor-Joy is also a fan. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she shared that she would love to be part of the next Avatar movie.
Anya Taylor-Joy stars in the upcoming movie The Gorge, releasing on Apple TV+ on February 14. The film also features Avatar star Sigourney Weaver. During an interview, the host mentioned that Weaver hoped James Cameron would watch her performance and consider casting her in Avatar. Hearing this, Taylor-Joy got excited.
Dead. Dead. It is like my dream to be Na’vi. I watched that movie like eight times in a row once. I was sad. It was after a party, it was the perfect thing.
she said, calling it a dream role.
The Avatar franchise features a star-studded cast, including Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Kate Winslet, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, and CCH Pounder. With two more movies planned after Avatar: Fire and Ash, Anya Taylor-Joy might get her chance to join the series.

Filming for the fourth Avatar movie is nearly three-quarters done, but the remaining scenes will be shot after Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theaters in December 2025. Reports also suggest that the upcoming sequels will take the story beyond Pandora and bring the action to Earth.

The Emmy-nominated actress has a busy schedule with several upcoming projects. She stars in the action-comedy Sacrifice, directed by Romain Gavras, alongside Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, and John Malkovich. The film is set to release this year. She is also part of the Apple TV+ drama series Lucky, which features Timothy Olyphant and Annette Bening.
In addition, she worked with Apple TV+ on The Gorge, a sci-fi horror film directed by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) and written by Zach Dean. The movie also stars Miles Teller.
Before its release on Apple TV+ on February 14, The Gorge received mixed reviews. The film currently has a 64% rating from 47 reviews, but no audience score yet. Critics praised the lead actors’ performances but felt the shift to horror wasn’t as strong as the movie’s opening.
The Gorge will start streaming on Apple TV+ on February 14, while Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to hit theaters on December 19.
