Andra Day is joining the cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” for its second season, playing Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom.
Andra Day first acted in a movie in 2021, playing the famous singer Billie Holiday in “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.” Her fantastic performance won her a Golden Globe and even an Oscar nomination. Andra also starred in movies in 2024, like “Exhibiting Forgiveness” and “The Deliverance,” directed by Lee Daniels, who also directed her in the Billie Holiday movie.
Before acting, she was mostly known as an R&B singer. As a singer, Andra released two albums: “Cheers to the Fall” in 2015 and “Cassandra (Cherith)” in 2024. She became famous for her strong voice and inspiring songs, and now, she’s bringing her talents to play Athena, bringing wisdom and strength to the Percy Jackson series.

n Season 1 of “Percy Jackson,” Percy was introduced as a 12-year-old modern-day demigod who discovered he has special powers. His new friends, Annabeth and Grover (played by Aryan Simhadri), join him on an adventure across America to stop a big war between the gods.
In Season 2, Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood after a year and finds things have changed. His friendship with Annabeth is different now. He discovers he has a Cyclops as a brother, Grover has gone missing, and Kronos’ forces are attacking the camp.
To fix everything, Percy will have to travel far beyond familiar places into the dangerous Sea of Monsters, where a mysterious fate awaits him as the son of Poseidon.
Day’s casting was revealed at a virtual panel during Disney’s D23 Expo in Brazil, and then shared on social media. Watch a video of Day speaking to “Percy Jackson” fans below.
