Since Disney started adding more mature content to its streaming service, it’s been interesting to see how people watch it. They’ve made sure to separate kids’ and adults’ profiles on Disney+, and more people are watching R-rated shows and movies. Early this year, popular movies like Night Bitch, John Wick, Deadpool and Wolverine topped the charts, showing that fans really enjoy the more mature stuff.
The movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, which is the MCU’s first R-rated film, stayed in the top 10 list since it started streaming. But now, it has been replaced by Alien: Romulus, according to Flix Patrol.

Directed by Fede Álvarez, this new Alien movie has reignited fans’ excitement for the series. Alien: Romulus is currently the second most popular movie worldwide, right behind the live-action The Lion King. Meanwhile, Deadpool and Wolverine has dropped to fourth place.
Starring Cailee Spaeny, Alien: Romulus, was a big hit at the box office and got an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The success led to a quick sequel announcement with Fede Álvarez back to direct and co-write with Rodo Sayagues. Recently, Álvarez shared an update on the sequel, which is still in the early stages of development.
I think with sequels, it’s always about finding the right story. Me and Rodo [Sayagues], my co-writer, we have some ideas, but it’s not until we find something that we go ‘Ok, that is a movie worth making’ that we really embark on it. So that’s the process we are in right now, trying to find a story that is worthy of everyone’s time and is worthy of the title.
Álvarez further explained that the team is careful about making a sequel just because the first one was successful. He believes that making a sequel just because you can is a bad idea. Fans often don’t like sequels that don’t add to the story or characters, which has happened before with the Alien series. Since Romulus had lots of jump scares, gore, and the scariest Xenomorphs in the franchise, fans know that a well-made sequel will be worth the wait.
