Ahsoka Tano first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has since become one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe. She began as Anakin Skywalker’s student and evolved into one of the galaxy’s most powerful Jedi.
Since then, she has appeared in other series, such as Star Wars: Rebels. She also made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 2 and went on to star in her own show, Ahsoka, which premiered its first season in 2023.
Recently, during an interview with Steven Weintraub at Star Wars Celebration, Dave Filoni shared a major update on Ahsoka Season 2. He discussed how the scripts are progressing and when they plan to start filming.
We’re going to start shooting in four days, so I have all the scripts done. There’s a version of them all done, but I always keep working on them as I go. Again, you have to keep evolving them, keep improving them. The whole thing is you have so much time, and you’ve got to use every second you’ve got to make this thing better. Collaborating with the team and the actors as things evolve and change, you take every moment you’ve got to make it better.
Ahsoka appears a lot more in Star Wars: The Clone Wars than in Star Wars: Rebels, but the Ahsoka series feels more like a follow-up to Rebels than to Clone Wars. The show also brings several Rebels characters into live-action for the first time, including Sabine Wren (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).

Thrawn is seen as a possible major villain not just in The Mandalorian & Grogu but also in Dave Filoni’s upcoming New Republic movie. Many fans consider Thrawn one of the most intimidating villains in the Star Wars universe, which is impressive, considering it includes Darth Vader. But unlike Vader, Thrawn is feared for his intelligence and strategic mind, not for physical power.

Even though Ahsoka is more connected to Rebels, it also revisits parts of The Clone Wars, which made it possible to bring back a major Star Wars star. Hayden Christensen returned as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, appearing in flashbacks as Clone Wars-era Anakin alongside a young Ahsoka, played by Ariana Greenblatt.
Christensen had earlier played Anakin with Ewan McGregor in Obi-Wan Kenobi. While it’s not yet known if he’ll be part of Ahsoka Season 2, his strong connection to Ahsoka and popularity with fans make it likely he could return.
Season 2 of Ahsoka is getting ready to start filming, but there’s no official release date yet.
