If you’ve ever noticed Adam Scott running a lot in Severance, you’re not the only one.
The 52-year-old actor joined his Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler on the Aug. 12 episode of her Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast. While talking about the hit sci-fi thriller, they both agreed that Scott gets plenty of exercise on the show.

The topic came up when Scott said he feels “sad” rewatching Parks and Recreation because he “misses it” and “it was so much fun” to be part of it. Poehler then joked that the real reason he’s nostalgic is something else.
Because you’re stuck in a f—— weird office, you’re running in a white hallway. And you don’t even know where you’re going. I mean, every hallway looks the same. Too much running.
Poehler said of Severance, referring to the underground offices beneath the fictional company Lumon Industries. Scott agreed, adding that he “gets lost every day” on the set. “It’s exhausting and confusing.”
Scott plays a former history professor who now works as a severed employee at Lumon Industries.

The severance process splits a person’s outside self (their “outie”) from their work self (their “innie”). This means the innie has no memories of the outside world and only lives inside Lumon, while the outie has no memories of the job once they leave and only lives in the outside world.

Poehler gushes about Scott’s performance on the series, telling him. the Saturday Night Live alum said of the edge-of-your-seat episode, which she admitted had her “shouting at the TV” in the final moments. she continued.
Scott shared that Poehler texted him “right after” she finished watching the finale.
You text pretty promptly after things, and it always means the most when you text me. It really does. For people listening, it’s the best feeling in the world. [You watch] your favorite TV show, and then you get to text the person on it immediately and be like, ‘What the f—?!’ Do you remember we were texting just a couple months ago and just kind of commented on how nice they are? They’re so nice. They’re so much nicer than us. Every woman deserves a Ben. Every woman deserves a partner like Ben who roots for you and looks at you and is just like, ‘That’s my gal.’ Everyone deserves that kind of relationship. Looking back, it’s like they were just in love with each other immediately.

Talking about their famous characters, Poehler said the best part of their relationship was that “they really rooted for each other” and “they respected each other.”
