Adam Scott recently looked back on his career and his starring role in Severance, the Apple TV+ series that has received a lot of praise.
In an interview with CBS News, Scott said playing Mark in the drama took his full dedication.
I knew that I would have to give all of myself to it in order to pull it off.
he explained
Known for his work in movies like The Aviator and comedies such as Step Brothers, along with TV shows like Parks and Recreation and Party Down, Scott said Severance was a big change — it put him in the spotlight as the lead of a major series.
It was terrifying, like, truly. As an actor, it’s something you wait your entire career for… but when it happened, I was immediately terrified.
he said, describing his initial reaction to being cast
The series is about employees at a secretive company who go through a procedure that divides their work and personal lives. Season two has earned 27 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Lead Actor for Scott.

Executive producer and director Ben Stiller said Scott had the skill to play two different sides of the same character in one performance.
The key to the effect working really is Adam’s change of expression… very few actors I work with can do as well as him.
Stiller explained
Scott said the role combined everything he had learned over decades of acting.
I would have to use absolutely everything I’ve learned over 30 years if I was gonna do it right.
he said

I knew that I was just gonna stick around until something happened, something came together for me.
