Abbott Elementary’s holiday special earned the show’s highest multiplatform viewership since its post-Oscars episode.
The “Winter Show,” which aired on Dec. 4, reached 6.66 million viewers after a week of streaming on ABC, Hulu, and other digital platforms, according to Nielsen and internal data. This made it the show’s largest audience across multiple platforms since the post-Oscars episode in March.
The holiday episode of Abbott Elementary reached a multiplatform audience of 6.66 million viewers, which was higher than the 6.19 million who watched the Season 4 premiere. This was a 129% increase from its live same-day audience of 2.91 million. It also became the show’s biggest Wednesday audience in nine months, since February.
The episode earned a rating of 2.14 in the important 18-49 age group after seven days of watching across multiple platforms. This was a 410% increase from its live same-day rating of 0.42.

On ABC, the holiday special earned a 0.64 rating after one week of viewing, marking a season-high and making it the show’s strongest episode since the Season 3 finale in May.
So far this season, Abbott Elementary has an average rating of 2.15, making it the most-watched broadcast comedy in the key 18-49 age group, according to the latest Nielsen streaming ratings across platforms.

In the holiday special “Winter Show,” Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) is determined to make the school’s first holiday show a success, even if it means stepping in to perform a solo. Wednesday’s schedule featured two back-to-back Abbott Elementary episodes, with the “Winter Break” episode showing the Schemmenti family’s Christmas Eve and Janine and Gregory’s first Christmas together.
Abbott Elementary will return for its midseason premiere on January 8, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. ET for a crossover episode with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
